Information on the “Caregiving Kanji Supporter”

The study of technical terms and associated kanji characters is the key to care worker candidates succeeding in the State Examination for Certified Care Workers as part of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). For this reason, our research group has developed the “介護の漢字サポーター(KAIGO NO KANJI SAPOTA Caregiving Kanji Supporter),” a kanji-learning website geared toward the State Examination.

The “Caregiving Kanji Supporter” is designed in such a way that users will be able to learn the single kanji characters, two-kanji words, and technical terms used in each subject of the national examination by associating the three with one another. The terminology featuring on this website was first selected from the tables of content in care worker training manuals and the header words in care worker terminology dictionaries, before being verified by specialists in each field for suitability.

*Two-kanji words refer to compound words comprising two kanjis, which are in turn the constituents of a term, such as the words 介護 (“care”) and 福祉 (“welfare”) in the term 介護福祉士 (“certified care worker”). It is believed that learners of the Japanese language can increase their vocabulary efficiently by learning the two-kanji words that constitute various terms in this way.

This website is being developed with the assistance of a research grant, the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (C), 2012-2014.
